Replacing original

Featured Replies

Apologises if this has already been asked before.

I'm replacing the original dance stereo in my 07 plate fabia with a aftermarket stereo, probably alpine, my question is what exactly do i require to fit the new stereo, i've heard i need a wiring harness, aerial adaptor and facia, is there anything else required, one person i spoke to said i need to connect to a ignition lead as a aftermarket radio won't swItch off otherwise.

After any help you can offer.

Thanks alot, tony.

I cant help 100% with this post as i havent done it yet, but i've fitted numerous aftermarket headunits before and your list has everything you need on it.

However, i fitted an aftermarket unit to an 08 Astra and as mentioned by yourself, in the astra the wiring harness had a cable for 'ignition live' and the radio wouldnt switch on neverind off until this was connected. I just spliced into the ignition live for the Hazard warning illumination light and it worked perfectly. Would be interesting to hear from anyone thats actually done it on the fabia though!
