Internet connection whilst connected via RSAP

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have my S3 connected via Premium (rsap) usually, because of the better reception obtained and other features.

Is there any way to maintain the internet connection that the phone would have if it was connected via Standard handsfree mode? I'd like to be able to stream Radio 5 Live Sports Extra via my phone and BT to the Columbus.

There does seem to be a data mode connected with rsap but I can't seem to get it working.

thanks

Martin

When in RSAP mode all the data functions on the phone is disabled and the car becomes the phone. Even if you could get the data working (all it needs is the APN settings for your phone provider) you'll still not be able to stream since the only device that could then stream radio is the car itself and not your phone.

Yes, I thought it might turn out to be something like that. Thanks Mannyo!

I needed an internet connection to be able use my speed camera database on my S3. I use BlueVPN, a free app from the Play store. At first I couldn`t get it working then for some reason it just worked. I did find that if the media player side of rsap is enabled then mine didn`t work. As soon as i disabled it BlueVPN worked

I have to say I don't use RSAP on my S3. I think the trade off of no internet connection and text messages being left in the car isn't worth the extra little bit of signal. Plus, most of my colleagues run iPhones so calls are constantly dropping out anyway so me having more signal make very little difference ;-)

Text messages can be copied to the sim using the Maxidot menu but I know what you mean I would like to try the handsfree profile rather than rsap but the car doesn't let me switch. The option is there to change profile but after thinking about it for a while the car just stays on rSAP or premium.

I can't find an option on the phone to turn off sim access

as I remember it's not a car thing it's a phone thing. Delete the profile for your car from the phone and the same in the car for your phone and reconnect. When you're in the process of connecting it asks if you want to allow access to messages on your phone. Say no and don't ask me again and then you're just connected hands free.

That's off the top of my head for an S3, may be slightly different in real life....

Thanks Robski I'll give it a try
