Fabia vRS subframes.

Featured Replies

Right guys I've just bought some new bucket seats, now the seats have holes to bolt the subframes onto but if anyone has taken off the runners off the seats then your are that where the leaver is to adjust the seating position towards and backwards will realise where it joins, either side has a raised bit where the bar goes. Just wondering if anyone has made sub frames for these to move the bar away from the bottom of the seat for aftermarket seats, or anyone know if the subframe of the fabia seat will remove without cutting it so I can go back to standard?

Thanks if this isn't clear please lemme know and ill try to explain more. Thanks

U can remove the subframe on standard seats with 8 bolts..

And you can bolt them back on :)

The metal subframe is a comlpete welded structure.

Once you take the back rest off, then remove the foam, the seat base is welded the the support legs which is in turn welded to the sliders which fit into the runners.

I investigated this long and hard while trying to work out how to get Golf Recaro's into my car.

Unfortunately there is no way to separate seat from sliders/runners as it's all welded together.

I need the subframe and runners off my vRS seats to sit onto my new bucket seats, can this be done, can't quite work it put, I know that the runners separate from the bottom but not sure what else separates?

...but not sure what else separates?

From what i've seen - nothing.

Other than the silders comming off the runners everything else is welded together

I'd suggest finding a donor set of Fabia seats (these maybe) and hand the subframes over to metal worker and let them sort it out for you, with the relevant cutting and welding

That'd leave your standard seats complete and much much easier to sell.

Whether that'd work out cheaper thatn going to your seat manufacturer for their own subframes i dunno

Yeah I asked them and they want about £100 per side for sub frames plus the runners on top which is are £50 per side?

Not sure if I want to spend an extra £300 on them tbh! :(

Probably cheaper to get a metal worker to make custom mounts using adapted Fabia donor subframes then....

This is so typical of VAG :(

Having looked at the ones I'm Octavia-ing at the moment i think matt is right.

8 bolts on either side will separate the 4 'legs' (2 bolts each) from the runners/sliders leaving them held together by a mounting bar that the movement handle mounts on to.

You'd still need something custom made up but much smaller job than I expected

Take out the 4 rusty bolts on both sides

And the base will come right off the sliders leaving them connected by this bar with the handle attached

Mount some new 'legs' to your bucket and bolt the whole lot back together.

At least it looks that simple

Yeah I just got some donor fabia seats, from what I can make out though the driver & passenger have a different set up.

Also I can't see where mine unbolt from unlike yours so may have to cut & weld mine back together?
