Indicators showing white?

Featured Replies

The past two health checks I've had from Skoda have stated that both rear indicator bulbs are showing white and require replacing. I've just had an MOT and nothing about indicator bulbs was raised.

Are Skoda trying to take me for a ride? Especially asking for £3 plus to fit, when I can get two bulbs from halfrauds for less than a pound with a trade card.

Not being funny, but why don't you just put your hazard lights on and look for yourself? The orange paint on the bulbs can start to fall off over time. Like you say, it's an easy and cheap enough job to swap them out if they're not as they should be.

I've done that and they don't look any less orange than the fronts.

Why take the risk? I say hang the expense and blow the budget. Spend 2 quid at Halfrauds and change the lot.

agreed i would rather people see my indicator for the sake of a few quid than smash into me.

Fair points.

It is an offence to have a flashing light other than an orange one that is an indicator. This is why the garage will say they need changing if they're looking white. They are correct in this. I can't remember off the top of my head just what the MoT includes but it's possible it's not so bothered about the colour of the flash.

Sarge.

I had to replace the rear indicator bulbs on my 2007 vRS as they lost their orangeness.

When I took the old bulbs out the orange coating had cracked and peeled off in large chunks.
