Newbie '02 Octavia I vrs owner. Always been a Ford/Vaux head, but thought I'd convert to the dark side and I must admit that I'm loving every minute of it so far .

Owned the car for 3 weeks now - 77k on the clock, dealer service history and stamps up to 53k, and apart from a few niggly little bits and bobs it seems to be a peach.

Already owe a big thanks to the pages of the forum for saving me ££££'s!! Had a very anoying clattering/clonking over bumbs and humps....... Was thinking of getting it up on ramps and the front suspension/geometry checked over, when I stumbled across a thread on here about radiator bottom mounts. Went outside, popped the bonnet, and lo and behold the radiator's flopping around like a soggy flag!

A quick trip to Wickes later, and after parting with 6ish quid for a load of pipe lagging (no one near us does rollcage padding), and the problems solved! No more clonking, AND it even seems to be more stable in the corners. Probably from not having all that weight wobbling all over the place any more.
