Premium Diesel: is it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hey I just wondered if any of you guys use this stuff. My local Esso has spend a load fitting new pumps selling the premium stuff at £1.47 a litre. I am just wondering if the stuff is worth it and do people use premium derv on a regular basis and whether if does confer any benefits. I remember using Shell premium a while back for a while and got minimal fuel economy benefits and no noticable improvements in response or delivery.

I know super unleaded is higher octane but what is super diesel considering all derv has additives now?

More poke, less mpg.

All the filling stations I've seen on my travels have been removing premium pumps. At one time you'd struggle to find a normal one.

Its not all about the poke though its the cleaning agents used , you will not see it but you know its doing good internal

And that's a result ! I knew it was better :)

I use Millers economax, supposed to give similar results to premium diesel and only 2p per litre more than normal derv so is cheaper than using premium. My vRS seems to run better on it.....

I will try both but millers you need to have a full tank to get the right mix and I seldom fill my car right up these days :p
