Was Having Dark thoughts about selling up!

Featured Replies

After finding out on Saturday that I needed a new compressor for the air-con at £700 I though about selling up. Esecially with the fact that work were offering a really favourable salary sacrifice lease car scheme!!

Fortunately I came to my senses (after a spirited drive!) and decided nothing would be as much fun .....Phew!!

I will just shop around for a cheaper quote (as this was a main dealer) or just open the windows.

Roll on Friday's track day

Had me worried (and my bank manager!) for a minute!

For the 2 days a year you need aircon i wouldnt bother! Open the windows

In England air con ain't needed for that price I'd rip out full system losing about 15kg of waight so better mpg hahha and gaining slight power from engine working less (aircon pump) and then when it's hot open the windows with them electric switches put on the doors :)

Jobs a good one for a cost of nothing much

My air con broke do I ripped it out! Don't miss it at all! Never have problems in winter with misting and it's certainly not hot enough to need it in the summer! Lost weight from the front end along with moving the 19 kg battery into the boot makes for much better handling.

Could just buy a second one. Are they the same as non VRS ones.?

This is my compressor if anyone wants it for free you can have it as long as you pick it up. Can't promise it works as my air con didn't work but never found out why.

That would have been an error Darren! Sounds like you've got your foot down, which should help change your mind. I always find giving mine a decent clean makes me appreciate it more.

Clean car, happy Clarkey :-)

Never used it, probably won't ever use it either.

I turn (tried) to turn mine on yesterday, 1st time in 2 months of owning the car. Air con didnt wont, do i lool botherd haha. I only use it in summer which if i recall last year it was on a Tueaday afternoon about 3pm.

It was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to the prospect of spending lots of money. I gave it a clean yesterday (not as good as yours though) so all is forgiven.

Just having a tyre replaced now as one of my R888's has the worn strangely to the cord on the inside. Not sure what that is!!

Will a normal 1.9 TDi non ac aux belt fit if I remove mine? If not which belt do I need? Mine doesn't work but can't be bothered to look into it so was thinking about removing it or may get it gassed up just to see if it's that before I do it

noticed on my car last year it wasn't working will cost me £500 + vat from TPS and skoda will fit it for £145 ish, can save £50 from skoda's price on supply, gas and fit. haven't missed it as i haven't ever had air-con before.
