where to buy a spanner!

Featured Replies

Does anyone know a supplier of SINGLE box spanners?

I need one with a 10 mm end, anything from about 4" to 7" long, and can only find sets, most of whose sizes I already have.

Try the profession range from halfords, very good quality and a lifetime warranty I believe.

Exactly what I was gonna suggets. Don't know if they're still doing two types, but when I bought my socket set, it was anything in the Professional range that got the lifetime warranty.

Halfords lifetime warranty only seems to apply if you keep the receipt though!!

and does not cover moving parts. ie the ring of a ratchet spanner that breaks after only a few uses is not covered, as it moves within the rest of the spanner.

Thanks all, Halfords only did full sets (on line) but had a bit of luck. Local bathroom shop sent me to local branch of Plumbase, who sold me a

set of 3 metric box spanners for £4.99 !! 10 mm was the needed one but now I have 6 sizes for future use. They are about 7" long.

Made by Rothenberger whose UK base is in Kettering.

Fleabay!

Sure, but this set of 3 cost less than a single anywhere else, and the Plumbase shop is literally up the road from me!

As suggested by 'dunknat' E-Bay.

Surely having the correct size, used with an extension would do the trick.

Size of box-socket drive 3/8" or 1/4" and not forgetting 1/2" drive should do the trick ??

The three double-ended spanners in my new set are 8mm-9mm, 10mm-11mm and 12mm-13mm, plus a tommy bar. All for £4.99. The 7" length made access to the nut easy.

I think that value would be hard to beat, on-line or off. Usually about £6 or £7 for a single item, plus postage.
