Seat moving for better legroom

Featured Replies

Good afternoon, gentlemen, and thanks for the response to my last post. After a week with roomster, I'd like to move the drivers seat back beyond the current limit of travel which gives me insufficient legroom. Superficial examination looks like it is held down with 4 bolts, and there seem to be vacant holes in the runners in front of the current bolt locations. It looks as though I could move the seat backwards about a couple of inches, and even this would be useful I am not that tall, just over 6ft, and feel more cramped than in my old felicia. Are there any snags to be aware of in attempting this simple adjustment please? Skoda seem to go to great lengths to discourage DIY, so thought I'd ask. Thanks for any advice, hbj

I guess you'd have to watch the length of the airbag cables under the seat.

Have you tried raising the seats and adjusting the steering wheel.

As well as extending any cables, correct fitment of the seatbelts becomes a problem if you move the seats further back.

and the B pillar will make it more difficult to get in and our if the seat is too far back

I'm kind of surprised you feel you can't get the adjustment. I'm 6ft and can't have the seat all the way back.

Have to say I agree! At 6'1" I don't have any trouble at all with seat around 3/4 to the back extent.

6ft5, 39in inseam legs, and yes, the Roomster is one of the few cars I fit in just fine. Also, raising the front edge of the seat (by an inch or so) helps driving position a lot more than increasing legroom. I did that on my Mk1 Octy and Superb (made a thick steel plate and mounted on front rail anchor), but Roomie has OK seat angle (and the console does not bite left leg). While I have a little more legroom in the Mk1 Superb, I can comfortably do a 16hr+ trip across Europe in either car.
