Vibration At low revs 1000-1500 rpm any ideas?

Featured Replies

SKODA OCTAVIA 1.9TDI ESTATE 2008

When driving at low revs between 1000-1500 rpm i'm getting a vibration sound coming from the engine bay it doesn't sound terrible but certainly annoying .

I've tried taking off the engine cover and also removing the plastic casing around the battery but still no joy the vibration is still there.

Any ideas suggesting what to look for next would be greatfully received

Thanks

What gear?

2nd , 3rd ,4th , 5th mainly 3rd -5th gear

Dmf?

I was thinking dmf too.

Its just had the dmf replaced recently , the vibration sound is just that (a sound) theres no judering or vibration through the clutch when driving , every thing seems solid on the car .

when i change gear from say 3rd - 4th the revs drop back down to around 1000 -1200 ,accelerate vibration sound starts , hit 1500 rpm onwards sound gone . If in 4th gear say at 3000 rpm no sound , if i was to brake , revs back down to around 1000 and accelerate vibration sound back till the rev counter hits 1500 .

Thanks for replies though guys keep the suggestions coming

What's your mileage softrails?

I am runnin 100k plus and believe I also have the same vibration, which I put down to a DMF; I have learned to live with it; however had it since I purchased at 30k ish

One thing that I fixed recently that was rattling, the engine cover that unclips at the dipstick end and slides out of a rubber grommet at the bulkhead end.

This rattled exessively for my liking nothing major on idle but you could hear and see on tickover.

Check the condition of the rubber bung/grommet if worn exessively replace it, its only a few £, it made a massive difference for me and I actually believe general vibrational resonance from the engine bay even with the DMF issue has been reduced a lot.

Cheap investment for a more pleasant driving experience.

The air intake on mine behind the radiator was buzzing/rattling at around 1200 revs when I got mine. Sorted it with a couple of cable ties around it.

my mileage is 78,000 , today i have tried using cable ties to fasten the airbox as this seemed to have some movement in it ( didnt work) I have spotted a bolt which seems to have worn away its seal so will take to the garage next week to let the professionals take a look .
