Less "modified" more "improved" (stupid idea that was!)

Featured Replies

Having completed the Recaro conversion project and got all the seats in, typically I stumbled upon a crash damaged Fabia Sport at a breakers still with its interior.

Unfortunatley the car had taken a bit of damage to the nearside and the only way of geting the seats out was for the breakers to cut out the B-Pillar. Once out the front passenger seat frame was bent, all the seats were filthy and they were covered in shards of glass. The rear centre belt was also red so would need swapping out and the drivers sponge bolster had collapsed.

Still its what I had been after in the first place so decided to buy them anyway and use my newly learnt skills of seat deconstruction to mend the interior.

I'm not going to go through another whole thread of how it was done but it was harder to deconstruct the fabia seats than it was the Recaros.

Today however after much cleaning and repair work I managed to swap the interiors over.

Sport seats in.

I think I do prefer the Fabia seats, they are more an improvement while keeping standard Skoda bits over the modified Golf seats.

I have however had enough of taking seats apart so thats it now these ones are staying in. Time to move on to another project once Ive cleared out all the surplus seat parts I have now accrued. :)

The sport ones look terrible....you should sell them to me. ;):D

Nah, Sport seats are so common these days but Recaro's, think how unique they would be, now if you want some of those...... ;)

How much for the recaros? :)

Probably will start a for sale thread in the right section for the Recaro's but will pm you in the mean time.

Nice work Sam Both work well.

Now i've got the Octy half leathers in the garage i can't help but think my Recaro's are a bt of an embarrassment :D

But then they suffice while commuting and worked well during the (brief) track work at Bedford.

Car is for go not show ;)

Any reason you put the underseat storage on the other side on the 2 sets?

The Fabia sport set came with the drivers under seat storage while the passenger seat fotr that set was so damaged it had no plastics. The Recaro passenger side one I took from my original Vrs set. They are side specifi so they will only go on one side or the other. Well spotted though but just after that photo was taken I swapped the Recaro one onto the Fabia Sport set so now in my car I have one both sides and the Recaro set has two blanking plates.

I have to say having taken the car to work last night it is massively noticeable how different the shape of the seats is. It really is a case that you sit "in" the Recaro seats but "on" the Fabia ones. Its going to take a while to adjust back.

you can clearly see in the right hand side of this pic the difference in position of the main meat of the side bolsters of the back rests

That didn't last long! Having driven about with the Sport seats I realise how good the Recaros were, what good condition they were in, how much they hold you in round the bends and how stupid I was to take them out.

We all have moments of madness and that was one of mine. Still lucky I didn't get rid of the Recaros.

Sport seats for sale then :D??

+1 :)

Start the bids!

The best sports seats I've sat in are Impreza STi V5 or V6 seats. They support the shoulders and upper body really well.

Shame they weigh a ton and would probably clash horribly with the usual fabia interior, let alone making them fit!
