06 2.0 TFSI vRS Turbo Range

Featured Replies

Recently took my car in to have all 4 discs and pads done, when the guy took it out to bed in the brakes he noted that the turbo wasn't kicking in till 2500-3000 RPM. He said it should be much earlier.

Now not to doubt someone who works with cars for a living and this is my first petrol 200bhp car, so compared to my 1.9TDci focus this feels normal to me as this is where the turbo range lived on that.

However he believes there is possibly a problem with the airflow intake sensor and suggested I get it booked in for a diagnostic to see if they can find the problem.

What is the normal turbo range supposed to be?

I think that's fairly normal, it starts spinning up a bit earlier but actual feel of boost seems to be about 2.5k

IIRC 1750 was about when mine began to spin up, with most of the puff arriving at about the 2500 mark.

2500 seems normal to me. That's roughly when mine kicks in- as mentioned above though it starts to spool a bit earlier.

Maybe he's confusing it with the TDI version- I'm sure they come in about 1500 rpm.

To be fair the TFSi does sound a bit flattery/diesel-like lol.

Yeah tell him to keep his dirty paws off before he breaks something, my TFSI turbo kicks in around 2500rpm
