hey guys just wondering what options i have to give the 4x4 longer ratios. does the gearset directly fit from a vrs into my gearbox. or maybe a 6 speed conversion with a long 6th gear any help would be great

This has been covered a few times now

You can swap gears round between both petrol and diesel O2J and O2M gearbox's

From what I recall someone has put VRS gears into a 4x4 box

TBH the ratio's aren't that different

Someone has thought about replacing the final drive from a petrol 6spd O2M with a diesel O2M final drive

Playing with the ratio's and/or changing gearbox's can be expensive though, unless you can do work yourself, mate rates, etc

eg if thinking about from fuel economy angle, not sure the fuel economy increase would justify $

There are some threads http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=346876 and at least 2 UK drivers ( an A2 and a Tdi T4 I think who have done it)

The add on 6th gear kit costs about £1250 without fitting. You have to be doing an insane mileage to get your money back
