A new problem !

Featured Replies

Could all be linked to my others issues.

For the third time, the car tried to die on me today.

All power gone starts slowing down then back on again and off I went.

Usual no codes !!!

Anyone got any ideas, everything has been checked recently, fuel pump is new.

Does feel as though fuel is being stopped though.

No problems ever starting so the relay seems ok, but I'm dubious about it

I had an issue like that on a V5 Bora, it drove me nuts! After weeks of messing about it turned out to be a wire going to the coil pack, it has a small nut on it and all I did was nip it up as it was loose enough to allow the connector to disconnect and cut the engine

That sounds a bit like mine when cold.

Blocked fuel filter?

I'm on my third fuel filter in a year, changed one recently then changed the fuel pump I should change it again really after fitting a new pump

Check religiously every connection (fitting and corrosion) from the battery and all major wiring centres. Any sort of increased load on the system that's not connected properly will cause this type of symptom.

Sounds like a bad earth.

I stumbled upon an earth point diagram somewhere recently, do you think I can find it now ....

Done it again yesterday, twice I think its when it's low on petrol, I'm wondering if theres something in the tank that shouldn't be.

Although the odd thing, when it happens it resets my fuel trim info

open the tank up from the top and have a look, take the sender out again, check the sender unit, then change the filter.

Yeah I'm gonna have a look asap.

Its chucking it down today so I doubt I'll get a chance.

When it did it yesterday on a bypass the boost gauge still went up but only to 5 psi. But no power as such.

It did feel like when the brake switch goes.

The second time was rolling up to lights and it stopped dead. Took two or three turns to get going then off it went.

Does sound like fuel starvation, rather than an earthing issue.

Has this only started since you changed the fuel pump the other week ?

It did it once or twice a while back before the pump swap.

Always on the weekend though

Seems more regular now. I fill up on monday so the weekends are always running low.

Well I was going to suggest a faulty replacement pump, but thats out now then.

And you have done the fuel filter recently too.

So that leaves the fpr, injectors and fuel lines.

Just had another moment and the short term trim shot up too + 26.

Very low on fuel though. I've just stuck a tenner of 95 ron in to keep me going

I've got some cleaned and tested injectors and new filter ready to go in. Just need to find the time tobfit them.

I reckon theres some ****e in the tank blocking the pump pick up

I guess there could be something in the tank, easiest way to test that, is make sure you don't go below 1/4 tank for a few weeks and keep a check on if it happens.

Tank looks spotless !! Well as I could see, which in truth wasn't much !!!

Just swapped fuel rail, injectors and FPR,

Going to fill up, back later ......
