Auxiliary belt tensioner damper

Featured Replies

Do all VW tdi engineshave these? I was told by mechanic that most he sees we're never fitted with them. My model with the 110bhp non pd did have a damper which snapped but he said don't bother replacing . Any thoughts ? My car is a 2000 slx

It'll have one and they usually snap because the one way clutch on the alternator pulley seizes

Sorry should have put more detail here - the alternator pulley has been changed, as has cambelt and auxillary belt, water pump etc. Mechanic said dont bother replacing the damper as most of these engines were never fitted with one from new

the pd engines weren't but the injection pumps engines were.
