1.6 tdi vs greenline

Featured Replies

I am looking for a greenline superb ( I know it's a bit slow, but I drive like an old women and all I am bothered about is mpg) there's a few none greenline 1.6 tdi's about but they are supposed to do about 9 -10 mpg less from the same engine, I fine this hard to believe can any one who has experience of this give some feed back please.

I have my doubts about that as well. The regular 1.6 should be capable of an easy 60 mpg if not the 64 plus that some of us with Greenlines get.

Its the same engine but the Greenline has lower suspension and a few other tricks to get the emissions down.

I doubt it will be any slower than any other 1.6 TDi Superb and once you get used to it they are quite nippy.

I had a 1.8 TSi Octavia before the Superb and soon got used to it.

I get around 50-56 mpg out of my Greenline but I don't drive it for economy.

If you are that bothered about MPG get something smaller after all the Superb is a big car.

The 1.6Tdi GL engine improves with miles. Mine is now at 59,000 miles and is quite willing.

My car's mpg is averaging at 64.2mpg, with the lowest recorded mpg as 53.7mpg, however, that was with a fully laden car and included a lap of the 'ring.

If I were buying a new GL and wanted more poke, I'd seriously considering a remap. Performance Torque remapped my last Superb, a 1.9Tdi, and would be my first choice.
