White VRS Alloys - laquer lifting

Featured Replies

Anyone elses white alloys have a problem with the clear laquer lifting? is it something that would be a warranty job? The wheel isn't damaged in any way just the laquer is coming off. The car is is 15 months old but i've only owned it for 3 months. Any advice appreciated

thanks

Can you be sure that the wheel or wheels have not been Re-furbished already,

and that is the Original Finish that the lacquer is coming off of.?

First white ones i have heard of, but 'White Spider' has been effecting 'Dark Chrome' Gigaros for 2 1/2 years and these have been getting replaced under Warranty.

Even replaced 'Dark Chromes' now have the Lacquer Lifting on the Spokes.

Take your own pictures & then have the Dealership look at the wheels and take pictures of them.

(if they say that 'they do not think they will be a warranty item'.

ask them to 'Ask Skoda UK' and send the pictures to them.

They will need to see the past history of the car, incase already replaced wheels,or they were refurbished because of problems, they might have been done before re-sale..)

Have a look at the Inside of the Wheels and see the condition of the Corrosion at the Hub/ Wheel centre.

I can not see why the White & Black wheels will not have the same problems come time as the Dark Chromes with Corrosion under the Coating.

& also the Porous Lacquer.

They may blame wheel cleaner, Washing etc.

Tell them they are Road Wheels that have to withstand.

Acid Rain, Road Salt, Fuels spills on tar etc.

Can you upload a picture?

I would assume if there is no impact damage etc that it would be covered under warranty. I haven't had any problems with my white wheels, but I did have a bit of paint flake of my bumper which was fixed under warranty.

Cheers for the inof guys, i'll try and get a couple of pics done tomorrow and upload. I will get it to the dealers in the next couple of days to see what they say. Just wanted to hear from others before I went to the dealer to be as well armed as possible if you know what I mean ;-)

I had the same and got 3 new wheels under warranty with no issues.

That's good to know thanks :-)

I had all my chrome alloys replaced under warranty. No fuss if no damage to alloys on your part. Just make sure you take your own photos too.
