Inter Cooler pipes

Featured Replies

Hi there the top intercooler pipes on my 05 VRS popped off today and I was wondering what is the best way to temporarily secure them? To fix them permanently I'm guessing it's new hoses without the scrappy OEM clips are forge pipes the best to go for?

Cheers

Nathan

I have just self tapper screwed it holds fine

Same, mine are still fine after more than 12 months.

you could replace it with a second hand one from eBay or put a new metal coupler on the end taking care when cutting the old metal one off.

hi there thanks for the advice my pipe has popped off at the bottom end of the pipe you have posted a picture of, i ordered a new clip and fitted it and it still hasn't solved the issue so not sure where to go from here? how well does the screw method hold?

I would replace the pipe as it's likely the metal lugs are worn down.

I would hate the idea myself of screwing a screw into a high pressure boost pipe... just doesn't feel right!

they arent really that high pressure a standard car would only be around 19 - 21 psi

which is quite a lot considering the volume of the pipework!

had a boost pipe pop off against my hand at full 20 psi while pressure testing and it bloody hurt!

20psi is a good pressure!

Thats the thing with diesels they run mahoosive psi!
