speaker (only) upgrade

Featured Replies

I've done the big stereo upgrade in the past in other cars (amps a plenty, and wiring up the wahzoo)

With this one I would ONLY like to upgrade the speakers as I max them out when the radio only gets half way.

However, to do this and choose suitable speakers I first need to know the RMS output from the radio , ie, 4 x ??? RMS. Does anyone know??

Also has anyone done this already?? if so what speakers have you used, and are you happy with them?

OR

Does anyone have any recommendations of what speakers I could look at?

I am looking for something that can handle the FULL range, High Freq. down to decent Bass!! and as a result I can try and avoid the need for a Sub. But if I have to I will fit a Sub.

Hi

Does anyone have any suggestions/advice about improving the sound system in my Skoda Superb II 2.0 TDI (170) Elegance??

I started looking in to swap out the front speakers for a decent pair of component speakers, then my idea was to find subs that would fit in to replace the rear woofers and leave the rear tweeters redundant.

But I couldn't find a manufacturer or installer that could tell me for certain what sizes would fit, so I've parked the idea for now.

But I'm hoping somebody will advise on your thread...

Unless the has the 12 speaker upgrade all VAG headunits typically output 4 x 25w RMS nowadays Im pretty sure.

Id expect the speakers to be 6.5" woofers and 1" tweeters but rear doors may be different, 5" maybe?

If the radio is that then I AM going to need an amplifier wiring into the system as most decent speakers have a minimum input RMS and that one you have quoted is not enough.

With regards the speakers, I agree. I have seen a You Tube clip and it confirms this, but I haven't seen anywhere for the rears so would have to check first.

So far I have found some Vibe units that look OK and some Lanzar Opti items (these might be good as my Amp is a Lanzar Opti Amp)

If I can work out a means of getting power through the bulkhead to the rear and then to feed the wires around the car then I am good to go. Problem is this car is built so well things don't just come away.....

I think Columbus is 4 x 20 RMS, same as the vw RNS510.
