  1. So are you glad you changed to Koni Special Actives, was it worth the huge financial outlay? I have a Sportsline Plus 190bhp DSG 4x4 and I find it doesn’t handle speed bumps or badly rutted roads - very unsettled. what’s your findings after changing?
  2. To try and help me understand, in the absence of being able to test drive, have you driven over a cobbled road - if you have how was it? on a motorway are they comfortable, but when you get on twisties at speed do they stiffen up?
  3. 5k in 2 months 😮. What did you do just stop to fill up? based on that mileage do you rate them then, over the standard?
  4. Out of curiosity what model is your Superb? To know what standard suspension you started with, assuming your now running the Koni’s yourself. I’m starting from a Sportsline Plus myself which is weirdly quite firm, but over speed bumps and broken road surface is abnormally soft 🤷‍♂️ I am looking at something to achieve better comfort and more control. Been on a number of forums and Koni’s seem to be a popular upgrade.
  5. Isnt the B6 classed as a sport shocker? In which case it isn’t directly relevant to the special active, it’s more relevant to the Koni Sport shocker - isn’t it? not sure if the comment was made by yourself or someone else but is the Special Activ like a dual rate spring where part of it is configured for softness and then when the reach of that is achieved then it hits the stiffer element and becomes less compliant. I have a Sportsline Plus 4x4 and I find it drives sporty, but over broken road it is unsettled. But the bigger issue is speed bumps. It thuds up them at anything but really slow speed, and depending on the width (if it falls within the frequency of the suspension bounce/recovery) it decks out 😣 this makes for an unnerving experience and quite upsetting for a modern vehicle. I have never had any car do what this car does, either normal or sports car - don’t know who engineered the shocker parameters but they have got it very wrong
  6. I’m very tempted, only just got car, so between swapping towbar over and the eye watering road tax am a bit brassic. But I am aiming for them, any recommendations for a source and who fitted them for you - anywhere near Manchester?
  7. can you tell me what age of cars you had before (and now) and apart from the shockers did you need anything else when you had them fitted (outside of springs and tie rods as they won’t be necessary for me) I mean changing of bump stops or shocker top mounts?? can’t remember if I’ve asked this of you but where did you get them from, and fitted by? And approx cost?
  8. Hi there Now you've had them a while what is your opinion? I am interested in improving the driving dynamics, but not bothered about lowering as I want to tow a caravan and lowering wouldn't help (neither would the speed bumps round where I live) I assume that if I am not lowering I can remain with standard tie rods as the arb wont be pre-loaded??
  9. I must admit I was sceptical myself, but I find it weird that when I first set off the gearbox seems to slip quite a bit under light acceleration, but this improves as you drive. Not quite sure its clever but there is something going on. With regards the tuning of the gearbox, I am dubious of that as (like the ECU) it could record the amount of times it is flashed, and in the event of a fault where significant work is required there are times you would be eligible for a goodwill gesture from Skoda - if modified this wouldn't be an option. Recently read a post on Facebook where this has happened to an owner.
  10. the garage told me the new 7spd wet clutch gearbox was an intelligent system and it had the ability to learn. I’ve heard about such systems on other cars, but don’t know how it works on Skoda’s Am curious as to what exactly a DSG tune does, ie, it’s benefits?
  11. I’d be interested in your opinion 1yr in on the shocker change (without changing springs) still the right way to go ? also when you had the DSG tuned what difference did it actually make. Mine is 7spd wet clutch, and I’ve been told by dealer it learns my driving style and adjusts itself accordingly 🤷‍♂️ All I know is that when setting off it changes to 2nd gear with a milli second, then feels to clutch slip it’s way upto 4th (if I didn’t know better I’d think it was CVT)
  12. That is a suspicion, but I did try and drive the car every few days to avoid that. I have a caravan so I am aware of that has an issue, and bought plastic trays shaped to the tyres for it and I park it on them which spreads the load to avoid flat spots. The car I thought I was doing enough to avoid 🤔🤷‍♂️
  13. Those are the next areas of suspicion for me, car being serviced this week so will advise what I’ve done and ask them to look at those places as it is spoiling the driving pleasure I used to have with this car. Especially as I’ll be looking to upgrade to a newer one sometime later this year.
  14. that’s the strange bit, the tyres have been on 3yrs - I had done about 5k miles on them before I got made redundant in Dec 2018, then I did little mileage for 2yrs (about 4K but only at upto dual carriageway speeds) because of choice and COVID lockdowns. Now got a new job, and doing mileage again, especially motorways and this vibration has appeared from nowhere. it’s very strange.
  15. The vibration I had was through the steering significantly, we have rebalance all the wheels again, and checked they ran true, and the failure I had was on the rear so it was the rear tyres that had been replaced. when I rebalanced the wheels I had the wheels swapped rear to front - so the new tyres are now on the front, and the mega vibration has gone. But there is still something not quite right. I don’t know about VAG as a whole but in all my cars I had I have always fitted the new rubber to the driven wheels.
