In gear acceleration times remapped vs stock

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've had my suspicions about my car as to whether its been remapped by a previous owner.

It has always felt "quicker" than my mates vrs, but i havent had it on a rolling road as of yet but plan to fairly soon.

I was browsing the forums last night and found the Autocar test that was conducted a while back and found the following times:

Now i was having a little go myself this morning and got the following results:

30-50 in 3.2 secs

30-70 in 6.4 secs

50-70 in 6.7 secs

I am yet to try a 40-90 test which in a mapped vrs should be around 10 secs and standard around 14 secs.

But these figures seem to be fairly decent, anyone in a mapped vrs confirm this?

cheers :D

What year is your car?

Earlier ones had longer gear ratios, the later BLT engines tend to put more power out as standard.

Don't forget, the PD engines loosen up as they get more miles on them too. They did their test with only 6537 miles on the clock.

What their test doesnt say is if its foot down before the speed or not.

So is 50-70 foot down at 50, or foot down at 40 then time from 50?

mines a 2005 vrs, so an asz not blt.

I did my tests from foot down from 50 etc.

yeh i had heard that they tend to loosen up abit as they get more mileage on them.

either way they have fantastic in gear times haha :D

They do.... but the problem is with these tests they also dont take into account how small the gears are.

Lets compare a VRS to a Honda S2000

If you did a 30-50 in 3rd the VRS would be faster.

But wait on, the fabia only does about 47 in second.

The S2000 does 65!!!

So not only coudl the S2000 have done them speeds in 2nd, it could have nearly done the 50-70 in 2nd as well!

Top end of 2nd is the same speed as top end of 3rd in the fabia.

So its not like for like and these ingear tests are always totally biased to diesels.

Lets do 40-60 in 2nd. Oh wait.... the diesel cant even do that.

I;m using the S2000 as an example becasue a friend has one and its a perfect demonstration of why these times only tell a very small part of the story.

O yeh i get that, i wasn't trying to say that the fabia is the greatest machine out there.

I was just simply trying to see if anyone could shed any light on my times thats all.

I love the s2000 reminds me of my old dc2 Integra type r...loved that car :(

I know you were not saying its fast etc

I was more sort of saying how the autocar stuff is flawed somewhat :)
