if i were planning to upgrade the power side of things, at what level would the DMF be rendered unreliable and outside its operating range?

Could you get a hybrid in and run sensible bottom end torque figures of say 320 lbft? or is that too high>?

I dont like the sounds of the SMF as it will be my everyday driver

Think standard is only rated to about 300ft/lb. .

They grumble and moan over 290

Drive without flooring it at low revs & cap the torque to 300ish and it'll be ok. How you drive it is more important than the torque level.
