Hey peeps got a used 3 button fob used just the base with my original top half coded the fob with vcds but the boot release button does not work on my 51 4x4 estate. Do I need to enable that feature in vcds bit lost could do with some help

No because you have a manual lock mechanism not an electric one.

I'm sure its electric as when u unlock the car you can here the solonoid move in the boot

The lock is electric (central locking) but the mechanism to open the boot is mechanical, which is why there is a handle and not a switch.

I got a three button key which pops the boot lid fron the remote.

Yes bought the 3 button key fob. So do I have to buy another part to get it to work ?

3 button fob only unlocks the boot and you have to open it manually, that's the case with my hatch

does not do anything on mine even holding the button for 2-3 seconds no joy.

Are you sure the key is for a mkI? I know there are two types of 3 button keys for the mkII and they aren't interchangeable.

The top half of my original fob fitted no problems and vcds coded the key fine
