Just got my VRS few ?'s thankyou

Featured Replies

Ok so i just got my vrs and have a few questions which i will number so easier to answer etc lol

1) It has a towbar :( what is the part i need to replace the towbar as i want it off asap!!

2) steering wheel is at 10 o' clock and feels a bit heavier turning left than right ( booked in for tracking hopefully that will sort it will no soon )

3) I am almost certain it has been remapped or its bloody quick for standard!! But is there any mods i can do to it D.I.Y

Whats the elephant mod?? and id it worth drilling and smoothing the airbox?

Thanks for reading Will

Standard air box and feed is more than enough for a mapped fabia, I was going to get a pd160 air intake but while it was mapped he proved it made no difference by attaching a large pipe to my air box and then sat it infront of his big cooling fan and it made no difference :)

1) just unbolt it all or has the bumper been cut?

2) not a question so no answer.

3) they are pretty nippy standard with a harsh kick back, remaps tend to pull smooth and all the way to the red line. Lots of diy mods but none that really gain power more just practical mods. Just have a look at the project threads plenty of ideas to picka up on.

And the un numbered questions) elephant mod is to take your the oily vapour to atmosphere instead of going back into your intake system keeping it cleaner and less likely to block the egr. Worth cleaning the system when you do it so it will always be nice and free flowing then.

Airbox smoothing never seen the point myself and drilling I thought its what chavs done to get the dwarp dwarp induction sound on there 1.0 saxos.

To replace the tow bar you will need to take the bumper off, remove the mounting bar and replace that with the standard rear crash bar that runs across the rear of the chassis. Should be able to get one of a scrap car that not got any rear end damage.

Your cars previous owner was a naughty person as the vRS is not type approved to have a tow bar. If you were to be using it and have an accident you wouldn't be covered by the insurance as it is a modification not allowed by the manufacturer or VOSA.

Oh dear lol well on the plus side he used it for a bike rack. Not a caravan or anything can intake it off and leave the bar off for a bit or??

Shouldn't be putting your foot down too far below 2k rpm. If you're giving the engine a good thrashing though loads of soot should come flying out the back

Yeah I wouldn't usually just wanted to see what the pick up was like wasn't full throttle only half just to speed up from 50-60 to get to 70.

Well hopefully it's a good car for me haven't had the best of luck with motors :(

They have the steering rack off centre by the sounds of it.

Honestly, a well mapped vrs should not put much smoke out! only a small amount.

Does the steering rack need re fitting?? If so is it a big job?
