Forge Motorsport Induction Kit

Featured Replies

Does anybody have, or know of anybody who has one of these? Or experience with them?

It's on eBay, item no 270964073401

No but I can vouch for the seller being good.

I bought a stainless exhaust off of them.

its crap. Dont bother. I had one before my ITG and two tuners told me that it was actually choking back power, which i concur as it didnt show any loss of power when i reverted to the stock intake prior to getting the VWR(ITG) installed.

Good to know, cheers!

ITG is the best to go for then?

ITG has proven gains for a remapped car.

The Forge kit is ok and you will see gains on a standard 1.4 TSI but if remapped it will more than likely hinder the performance more.

I personally think the Polo GTI version of the ITG or VWR setup is the one to go for, (thats not just because im selling one either). I said even before i bought it that i didnt like the Fabia version of the ITG hence why i went for the lightweight battery and Polo VWR intake instead.

So you have the lightweight Braille battery? Along with the polo gti ITG Maxogen setup and you reckon that's the setup that puts out the most power?

I think its a more efficent setup.

These picutres illustrate well why i chose to hold out and go for the Polo GTI setup with a lightweight battery.

What i advise doing is look at your engine bay and try to see where the cold air feed originates from in the Fabia setup.  That duct stops just behind the headlight/battery.  there is no feed from underneath either, so IMO its not a good high pressure area for sucking in cool air.  The Polo intake on the other hand has a much better intake feed IMO.

Yea I was of this opinion aswel I thought I'd get the forge one as it was logical how it took in clean cold air from the front grill and the vrs itg maxogen doesn't, it simply tucks in next to the battery doing the opposite, but if you guys are saying the forge intake chokes it up possibly and there's a chance of it restricting power or that then the polo gti itg maxogen intake just seems like the best option for power and engine health as well, cheers vrsy! One last thing.. Does the polo gti itg intake go on ok? Obviously its not for the vrs but I'm presuming it fits just as easy no? And if I go down this route ill have to fit a Braille battery for the intake to fit am I right?

My ITG was tucked behind the battery and gave gains when on the Rolling Road with it.

Yea I don't doubt the vrs itg would give gains however I'm looking for the setup that gives the most gains as well as being able to take in loads of clean cold air, this would be the best scenario

NHoggan,  Welcome to the forum.

What are you going to be using the car for,

is it just more performance for the road you want, or also for strip & track?

&

what else are you looking at doing to it?

Cheers George!

Mostly just more performance, I'm just trying to determine what intake is the best really, it may go on the track now and again but not for a good while will I be doing anything like that and I'm not for stripping it out or anything, I'm all for weight saving etc, however I'm not stripping back seats out and all this, I've got a good few plans for it, I've only had it a few months done a few bits and bobs but nothing performance wise, my plan to begin with is get an intake then a mate of mine is doing me an APR stage 1 map on it, then body work and change of alloys and so on, then ill look at getting intercoolers, exhausts etc

The only issue with fitting the Polo GTI Maxogen intake is the battery location in the Fabia.  A smaller battery alleviates this.

Surely the likes of this intake could only help and not be detrimental to the engine etc, same with the intercooler? As has previously been said it would appear guys running stage 1&2 on here their engines have failed or that, that is obviously not what I am looking for, I want mine to remain reliable, that is why I'm getting a mate to map mine using stage 1 APR software, and I'm thinking the likes of this new intake, an I intercooler, and even a replacement less restrictive exhaust could only help and not effect the engine negatively and so on? Any views and opinions are appreciated.

Thanks! Nick.

Minor thread revival.

Out of ITG Maxogen and Forge, which induction kit do we believe would give most gains on an unmapped car? If anyone knows how much exactly even better?

How well does the stock intake breathe/how restricted does this engine come as stock? Given VRSy's comment on the forge giving no gains over stock on a mapped engine.

This members build thread has lots of useful info and is well written. worth a read through IMO.

Thanks again George, seem to be saying that a lot recently. : )

I've read through vrs-powered's build, same for VRSy, Ap and others that I could find.

VP had his TMC tuning box on for most of the build, I think only mod prior was the revo filter which achieved nil gain, certainly he had the box before the ITG went on, iirc this is true for most of the builds albeit some were maps not tuning boxes. I have seen the gains quoted on mapped cars but I was looking out of curiosity at the induction as a stand alone and whether that offers much benefit for someone who is as yet undecided on adding map/tmc box. I am always loathe to believe manufacturers claims and would be nice to hear some thoughts.

Different filters (Even no filter in when on the dyno just a pop sock to catch anything that might have got suckied in.)

& playing about with Air Intakes made no difference to me and i have run them at cool temperatures on Dynos.

99 ron fuel is good, & 102 ron is even better.

Put your car on a Dyno or Rolling Road as it is and see what it is doing now maybe, before starting the search for more power.

Thanks George, lol

That's what I was wondering if anyone can actually state gains achieved with induction kits alone.

I'm currently fuelling up with Shell V Power Nitro which I believe is 99, who's out there offering 102?? Would most certainly try some of that.

I'm trying to do some due diligence before I consider a power upgrade, I am now more wary of a remap than previously and as mentioned in convo on another thread, I am not looking for anything silly gainswise, but from a personal taste/fancy I'd like to take her to around 20bhp more as safe as can be done, mostly I would like to see what might offer more access to more of the existing power through more of the rev range, having seen many of the dyno'd stage 1 cars graphs on here, that had been my biggest attraction to a map.

I am easy travelling distance to Awesome GTI and have been considering their offerings on a spring and damper set, so if I decide to go ahead I would probably get her on their dyno whilst I'm there.

Jim from 'Awesome' is on the Forum, he has a recent introduction in that section.

I would give a REVO map a miss but ask those that run them.  'Jonny Boy', could tell you of his experiece maybe.

I run a REVO map for a month this winter.

102 ron is available abroad, or you can buy it for special occasions in the UK.

Have read a lot of negatives on the Revo on here, APR from awesome seems most likely if I go that route

Do you think they have stopped offering on CAVE?

Will give a call.
