Well i've been doing some research on this and i want some opinions! I want to decat the car with a 3" downpipe to accompany the custom catback exhaust i got made ( 2.5" stainless steel with a Magnaflow backbox ).

Now i know you can get sports cats too, but do they pass nct (mot)? also, i imagine they are a bit more restricted so i wont get the full power off of a sports cat. And also wouldn't sound as loud as a decat, am i right?

Many people say you need to cut off your old cat/downpipe so it renders that pipe useless as you wont be able to use it again..

Is that true?!

Ideally what I want is to fit a decat with a joiner, not welded so i change it back to standard every year to pass the test, is this possible with the AUQ engine? Thanks

Buy a ebay special decat and get it cut and welded with flanges so you can put a cat back in at mot time,

A 2.5in or 3in won't make much differance with standard turbo, altho a 3in decat pipe is noisy especially with rest of system,

I had a 3in decat for abit but took it off as i didn't lke the fit of it and the flames it would kick out on throttle lift off, i now have a 2.5in200 cell sports cat and carn't really tell much between the 2 apart from its abit quieter and i don't have to mess about with it at mot time
