No Superb 4 Me

Featured Replies

Accused of clocking my car by a Skoda dealer, too expensive for what it is and lousy px offer,

Looks never grabbed me and inside it didn't have the feel of the Superb MK1, Sup 1 felt special, like an upmarket car with a cheap badge, Sup 2 thinks it's an upmarket car but it isn't, I guess the morale of the story is if you stretch a Passat it's a Superb but if you stretch an Octavia it's a long Octavia,

Sorry if anyone is offended but I've have it with VAG dealers, no more for me, if I buy another I may well grow a sheepskin coat and shout out Terry every ten minutes.

Your obviously upset at the dealer. What grounds did they give and as it just the one Soda dealer that had p....d you off?

I would be mad as hell if I got accused of "clocking" too, but I would also want the world to know "what" scum of a dealer thinks it's ok to go around making accusations like this?

That's not on....think I would ask him for proof of his accusations ......Have had both old and now a new superb and agree it's not the same car......but It's nice to drive and a lot quieter.....it does need some alterations though....bit more power and the handling sorted out....it's so difficult to persuade it you really do want to go round a corner

I guess it all depends how quickly you wish to go round that corner. If I wanted sharp handling, I would have bought an Octavia vRS.

For a car of it's length, the Superb II is (at least for me) a good compromise: not as wallowy as a big Peugeot, not as sharp as a Mondeo, but still a great balance for what it is a - comfortable cruiser, not an A-road racer.

I won't name the dealer but when I had the Superb 1 they constantly tried not to do any repairs on the car, I took it in with a knocking egr valve and they had it a day and returned it to me still knocking as they didn't understand that torn rubber diaphrams don't fix themselves by cleaning alone, that was the first issue and it got worse as time went on,

Regarding the clocking, mines a cab, as business isn't that great and I'm not a circuit cab I do very little miles each year, I had the service book with a VW stamp in it from 18 mths ago after owning it 18 mths and the miles with the mot's are consistant, the car itself is in vgc and will re-sell easily, I think it was a try to nick it cheap trick myself, they have a second hand site that deals with other brands and cars that aren't good enough for the brand retail thing,

Anyway it's their loss and my gain as I got the px I wanted with VX and the VX is newer and 2k cheaper,

Basically the VAG network isn't all that, but it could be a regional thing as I know there will be VX owners swearing about their local dealers as well.

You do seem to have had a very bad experience, which is certainly not what I have experienced with my dealer in Newport, South Wales.

Supurbia, why not name the dealer if they're so bad?

Why crap on about them if you don't want to put the boot in?

Either put up or shut up!

So did they actually say "I think you have personally had this car clocked", or did they say that the car might have been clocked by someone at some point or did they comment on how low the mileage was for the age and ask if you could verify it? One person's "accused" is another person's "question".

It doesn't really matter as it won't change your perception, I'm just interested that's all.

It's not one near you mate, it's a Hampshire dealer and I wouldn't travel further down than Winchester if I was you if you need anything doing, and just so you know, can you find me a DSG Sport Passat for £3k with 71k on the clock 07 reg and looks good still, exactly, on A/T my car is £5500 minimum and £6500 average asking prices, I wanted to see 4 - 4.5k for it, I got the 4.5k elsewhere anyway so I'm happy.

@ Arti, as I remember it after a 10 minute wait he came back and offered £500 less than his abysmal opening offer, when I said na ain't letting go of it for that, he then said iirc, they don't believe the miles are genuine, now he might've meant the traders (highly doubtful tbh as they retail their px's at another site) the car itself tells it's own story, the paint is good, the seats show wear for the miles and I had a service stamp 18 mths ago stamped by a VW dealer that also shows the miles to be in keeping for the average, basically they just knocked £800 off the Superb and depending on who the sales manager is depends on what sort of an offer you get, I would imagine he sat in his office thinking happy days we'll get the money in full for the Superb again now,

One other thing I'd like to add, when I bought the Superb 1 I got it for a fair price from a Skoda dealer in Kent, the sales guy there was spot on he didn't lie to me about the condition of it so I wouldn't waste my time traveling to see it, now all VAG cars local to me are overpriced, the local VW dealers cheapest Passat B7 S Bluemotion DSG is 19k, all over A/T other VW dealers have the same car for 14K go figure, personally I've had my fill of them, my mum has a Toyota that the local dealer is spot on nothing is too much etc, backed up by two friends of mine who also use that dealership, and the build quality of VAG cars circa 2005 on is not good, name me another motor group that has an engine that kills it's oil pump and then fits that same engine in a Skoda knowing VW's are failing all the time, forum pressure forced VW at VOSA request to change faulty injectors, VW was quite happy to let you die in the outside lane until VOSA got involved, I know there is this Kudos thing about VAG but I've owned lots of cars from lots of marques and the VAG cars are no better than a Ford,VX etc, I'll say that in the respect of good btw, i.e meaning that shabby little Vectra performed just as well as any Passat did, money is too precious now and mine is only going to something I trust, I'm kinda glad the Skoda deal fell away in a way, I didn't really want it but considered it due to it's excellent functionality, once I had the Arthur Daley treatment it woke me up and I'm sure I've made the right choice, saved 3.5k in the process as well, happy days.
