What the right spark plugs I should be using

Featured Replies

Hi guys I know this might sound a bit silly,,, but what spark plug should I be using..

I have l&k Octavia with pro alloy front mount ,samco hose kits ,revo stage 2 etc etc . What's the correct type of plug I should be using thanks for any info

Many thanks lee

Ngk PFR6Q, the one listed for a mk1 1.8t octavia.

BK7RE as long as you change them each service, cheaper than PFR6Q as well.

You have few options

Bosch

OEM heat range F7LTCR

One stage colder F6DTC

NGK

OEM heat range PFR6Q

One stage colder BKR7E

Denso plugs

OEM heat range ik20

One stage colder ik22

Personally most folks use the NGK PFR6Q as they are good price and work great.

With your REVO stage 2 and FMIC you are running slight hotter temps due to boost so you could run a one stage colder plug to help stop missfire.

I run BKR7E which is most common for mapped cars running more boost. These are cheap too.

I would not bother with the Denso as pricy plugs but they do work well and only need replacing every 20k miles.

Standard plug gap is .028" (0.7mm)

for mapped and higher boost cars can reduce that to .026" (0.65mm)

i run ngk PFR7Q in mine with a stage 1 remap, 1 heat range better than 6Q's for a remap, think mine where about £10 each from motor parts direct

+1 bkr7e's but now running a bigger gap with uprated coil packs.
