Hey guys, I've got a problem that has gradually come up on my car and it appears to have reared it's head just after my car's MOT!

Basically, the car won't go into reverse gear at all. When you push the stick down and put it into reverse it just goes into first gear. Any ideas on what's wrong and how it can be fixed?

Other info that might be useful - It's difficult to get it into first gear as well sometimes, and when you have put it in the slot for reverse, the lights don't go on either.

Kind of hoping theres a cheap way to get this fixed as I don't have the money to throw at replacing parts unfortunately :(
