Rapid Taxis

Featured Replies

I was visiting my home town (Hartlepool) a few weeks ago and I noticed a large increase in Rapid taxis. Previously the local taxi firms used Octavia'a but they seem to have moved to the Rapid's now. Ideal for the job I would have though. Varying spec but the majority looked to be low spec with wheel trims and black plastic wing mirrors etc. I only managed a photo of one though unfortunately.

Anyone else noticed Rapids rapidly being taken up by taxi firms?

Noticed more of the Seat Toledo's near me. Cheaper I guess.

SEAT were offering the Toledo's on quite a competitive deal to the taxi trade earlier in the year, but I think over time we'll see more Rapids.

Spotted one in the new Leon SC advert :giggle:

There's a red Rapid taxi in Darlington, but I can't work out whether there's a few different ones or I keep seeing the same one over and over again. I seem to be spotting more and more Rapids as the days go on, but I see Toledos in more or less equal measure I think.

I've only seen a white rapid as a taxi in town, so I'm not sure if its the only one they have. Saw one in Durham city a few weeks ago.

I think the first Rapid I saw was a Taxi. I spotted it in Whitby about a month ago.

Definitely more. I was there for a few days and spotted about 5. Silver, white and blue. All working for 23 Taxis.

Oh I'll have to keep an eye out. I usually use that firm when I go out for a few.

I'm not surprised they are popular with Taxi drivers. Good value and a reasonable size, just like the Mk1 Octavias that were to be found outside every pub at chucking out time.

I don't think I've seen a single Toledo on the roads by me yet, and we do have a local Seat dealer.

I think I might go for the Rapid when I next change. Just awaiting to find out if a greenline version will be released.

It's called greentech currently, stop start system. They may do a frugal version eventually I guess called greenline like octy etc

I was never sure if greentech was the same as greenline. Got the greenline fabia at the minute.

Depending upon where you live!

Quite a few in Swansea now and there's a Fabia estate taxi going round too

I believe Greentec is the petrol, Greenline is the diesel in the Skoda ranges.

Currently there is no special Greenline diesel like your Fabia with extra tweaks like lowered suspension, just a standard 1.6.

Yes there are more rapids that toledos here, but most of the fleet are superbs, octavias, passats, avensis's and berlingos but the octys are getting quicky replaced with rapids up here there are three denim blue SE specs, about 7 white ones, and a black and another blue, as for toledos, 2 white and 1 silver, taxi drivers love the skoda brand, but the toledo can do the job just as good and it is nearly idenctcal anyway,

and just last month one of the other firms bought 10 new superbs to replace the old shape superbs, one of the dealers near me is giving taxi drivers special discounts on FL superbs, octavia III, and rapid but only the base specs, but since they are reasonably priced economical and very reliable the taxi drivers love, i know i do i have been buying skoda since 2001, and had 4 since then

Here is a pic of one in my area
