Possible ecu problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Recently bought a second hand 2001 octavia 1.9 TDI elegance with 130,000 miles on the clock. Was pretty cheap so had a few problems as expected. The one causing an issue now is my air con was only blowing out hot air so I had it checked today and it had no gas so they gassed it and then a number of fault codes appeared which are:

01271 step motor temp damper faulty

01296 temp sensor inlet centre short circuit

00603 step motor to floor defroster damper faulty

They suggested the ecu was at fault but didn't have the equipment to pin point the issue.

Anyone had this problem before or know of the issue?

Thanks guys

Jerome

I don't know if vags are the same but volvos tend to run all there damper motors on one mini network,

ie 3 wires, power, earth and signal wire,

This is fine until one thing goes fauty then if it shorts the signal wire nothing works or only one side works as there is mini network for each side on some,

Other things to check are if its got a phone kit in make sure wires arn't tangled round motors up side of glovebox as the motors are usually bolted to side of the heater box assembly and sit in car and move each motor in turn from climate unit and see if you can hear it moving flaps

I love the way it's always the ECU's fault when something is a mystery !!!
