Boost problems

Featured Replies

Just fitted a prosport stepper boost gauge and its reading 25psi top if the scale , it's had a remap but that's about it , a tad hi I think but was wondering if anyone has had this issue with boost. There's an adjuster on the gauge but it reads 0 on idle so I'm not sure , any help much appreciated

Which engine?

Is the gauge electric or mechanical?

If it's electric then they do not usually catch vacuum.

If its mechanical then your car should see vacuum on idle (where you can see readings of 20 in.hg).

My car reads 18 in.hg on idle and boosts to 14-15 psi on WOT. This is with a stage 1 map (2.0 TFSI)

It's a fabia pd130 tdi it's been mapped and had 160 air intake of seat and panel filter , I know diesels run high pressure but just wanted to be sure of the boost I'm running , it's about 1.7 bar is mayb a tad more

0 at idle is OK but you have no way to accept its correct(on boost) without ref' to a known good guage if it's right, you're pushing a standard turbo at approx. 24psi if too much it should go into limp mode but even so I would guess you're looking at a short turbo life

Ok cheers for that , I know it was remapped b4 I bought it to around 165-170 so I would have thought it would be boosting as it should around 1.5 1.6 bar but 25 psi + is around the 1.7. 1.8 area so I may have to get it looked at at some point

Should be adjusted to 0 with the engine off mate, maybe that explains it?
