Fabia vRS and central locking

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible for the vRS central locking to be recoded so that it sounds a beep when locking as well as flashing the indicators, it is not always easy to watch for the indicators when carrying stuff etc and it would be better if there was a definite signal to notify that the doors have in fact locked.

Any ideas?

Yes it is possible. Mine now bleeps twice when unlocking and once when locked. My friendly local dealer did it for me!

hmm, it would seem that my dealer is just fobbing me off then as they said that it can't be done and that I would need to contact someone who does car radios and alarms etc to see if they could add something.

Mine makes a nice big CLUNK so always have the audible backup too. Thats an aftermarket K job though.

Lock and unlock beeps and flashes can be set on VAG-COM

Your car's alarm siren can be changed too...

Hi, thanks for the replies. So are you saying that if it can be done on VAG COM that it should be able to be done on the dealers computer as well or not necessarily?

Yep, dealer should be able to do it. Or any Briskodian with Vag-Com. If you come along to a meet, there's usually somebody there with a Vag-Com who can do it for you.

The dealer are adamant that it cannot be done or that they won't do it for me. Has anyone had their dealer do this for them?

I would be very intrested in this too. I'm going to give my Local Dealer a buzz and see what magic he can do to make my alarm sound like the crazy frog song.................maybe not!

follow this thread link to all you need to know.

Follow me!!!!

I asked my dealer to do it and he wanted

would this work on a furby comfort for central locking?

At the moment, when I pull away, the doors all lock. Lovely.

However, I have to tug the handle twice or press the door button to unlock them. Is there an auto-unlock setting that will unlock the doors on removing the key from the ignition?

Also, the "beeps" for locking and unlocking, is this just the horn, or something a bit "chirpier" or quieter...?

Cheers.

Yeah, there's a setting in there to automatically unlock the doors when you take out the ignition key.

When my alarm beeps, it's not the car horn that sounds.

My new Octavia Elegance has this autolocking when the car speeds up.

Also needs 2 tugs on the handle to unlock bu unlocks completely when the key is removed so I suppose the Fabia would do the same with reprogramming.

Dead handy feature I think

My dealer did single beep on lock, double beep on unlock, and lock at 7mph if not already locked.

Any dealer that says they can't do this on a vRS is inept or lying. The car does need an alarm to do this though, so not sure about other Fabia models.

if it's already got central locking, you will be able to have the anti hijack lock and unlock, but you can only have the beeps with cars that come with the std alarm as it uses the alarms siren to do it with.

The Auto unlock can be set up to work when removing the key from the ignition, but it depends on how the locking is set up as to how it will work. If the car is set up to open only the drivers door when you unlock the doors, that is all that will unlock when the key is taken out.

It uses the alarm horn and is quite loud in the Fabia due to where the alarm is placed.

ah shame, o well!
