Seat belt reminder.

Featured Replies

Has anyone had issues with the seat belt reminder misbehaving? By that I mean it keeps telling you to fasten your belt even though it is fastened. SWMBO keeps telling me that her car keeps doing this even though she is belted up.  I gave her a thorough interrogation and have deduced the following:

She is plugging her belt into the correct socket.

There are no heavy objects on any other seat.

Having the other seat belts fastened makes no difference.

I have driven the car on many occasions and it has never done it to me.  The only variable I can think of is that I have the seat all the way back and on its lowest setting of height, whereas the missus has it jacked up to the top and fairly well forward.  If this is the only thing that makes a difference then I can only think it is a loose connection/ other wiring fault. The point is, it doesn't do it all the time, it's intermittent. You can guarantee if I take it to the dealer the fault will never occur!! :wall:

Handbag on the passenger seat?

Now you know how heavy those things are, I've seen the amount of stuff my OH piles into hers

Already thought of that but she pleads innocent.

if you have a friendly dealer   or know of anyone local with VCDS, you might be able to have the 'bongs/beeps' turned off.

Possibly.

Maybe. :wonder:

I think.

:wait:,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'm not sure now :S

Is it the small seat belt warnings in the middle for the rear passengers? If so they always come on IIRC from the training course as a reminder, but they aren't connected to any buckles to turn them off.

Do the lights go off after a set period?

The Citigo is a 4 seater, it doesnt have a middle seat for the rear passengers :giggle:

IIRC the beep/bong is only for the front seats, so...... there must be something on the seat causing it to think theres someones bum on it!

Sorry i meant in the middle of the dash display not the rear seats.

The seat belt locks are wired into the electronics system of the car and will not be displayed if the seat belts tong is plugged in. As for the symbols on the dash they go away after 30 or so seconds.

and people think that scene in mary poppins where she packs all her gear into a little carpet bag is camera tricks, see what swmbo gets in hers, I swear I saw a spare kitchen sink last time we went on holiday

try checking the cable and connector under the front seat when it is in swmbo's position check its not caught or stretched to tight

I've rumaged around under there in a general sort of way (don't ask me to define that!!) but all seems fine.  I've even tried setting the seat in her position and sitting in and out of the car but the test was inconclusive as I can not sit in the car at the settings she uses!!  I can see the future and it looks like a skoda dealer. The car is only a few weeks old so it may just be a connector that is a bit dodgy and it wants hitting with a warranty stick.  As I said in my first post, it has never done it to me.

No, it is the red light in the middle of the speedo. I'm not actually sure if the the ones on the LCD are part of the warning system, they just change state when a belt is plugged in.

She says that it can start with the warning sound when she is driving.  Not sure how it works with Skodas, but I know in my Mondeo that if you set off without fastening your belt it starts nagging you, then when you plug your belt in it shuts up. After that you can unplug your belt and it doesn't warn you at all, but based on my wife's observations it monitors all the time.

Help, I'm confused! As my wife is the main driver of our Citigo SE, and she is quite short, the seatbelt on the driver's seat can dig into her neck. There is no up and down adjustment on our model (September 2012) yet some posters on this thread have mentioned "his position" and "her position". Have they got the top of the range (Elegance) model?

Have looked at seatbelt clips but none of them get unqualified reviews!

I’m having the same problem.  It happened a couple of months ago where the red seatbelt warning light beeps to say I haven’t got it on.  If I unplug my belt and plug it back in again it stops.  It seemed to go away for s few weeks it is doing it again.  Also I’m getting the rear seatbelt symbol coming up too.  I don’t put anything on my seats.  I’ve had a service done and nothing is showing up as an electrics fault.  Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Hi I’ve only just noticed this thread Tasha,s Citigo was doing the same a few months ago and when I had a look it was the drivers side seat belt buckle I sprayed a small amount of silicone in to the buckle and it has not done it since 👍 hope this helps 👍 cheers Paul Tash n Barney

Mine has done that a few times (driver's seat). I have just stopped, unlatched and re-latched the seat belt and it stops. The car equivalent of switching a computer off then on again!

Probably a faulty sensor or bad connection....

Very likely. It's not a problem anyway. In the year I've had it it's only happened I think four times.

It may be that your hovercraft is full of eels....

Yay! A fellow Python fan! Maybe my brother Doug can sort it out with his sarcasm...
