First timer octavia VRS and petrol this time!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently bought 57 plate octavia vrs petrol having spent my last 5yrs motoring with a Mondeo ST TDCi and then a laguna coupe GT 180bhp.

First impressions of the octavia are very good.  I should add my wife had a fabia vrs tdi however we sodl that a few years back.

I am really surprised at how frugal the VRS can be on the motorway when driving sensible.  per the comp 43mpg is easy.

Now I know computers arent totally accurate however the computer in my laguna dci would show approx 48 and the mondeo was tuned for economy, showing 53, however any manual calculation i ever doen on the mondy produced 49mpg.

Two things I would like to ask members about

1. I have a 6 disc auto changer in boot.  I also really want an ipod cable installed - doable? easy? any tips

2. Can cruise control be installed as an after thought? currently dont have it but miss it alot.

Anyway, for now hi and happy motoring.!

p.s. i had forgot how nice it was to thrash a car that powers up to 6,000rpm.....diesels are great but stop producing power at 4,000...ish

Do a quick search as you should be able to replace the cd changer to a chavpod cable, there are a few who have done it.

with respect to retrofit cruise, you should have no bother getting info / how to for that.

Welcome.

As above, a quick look through the I.C.E or Octy2 section should help withe the ipod connection, there may even be someone near you who could assist with a cruise control retrofit.

Hi and welcome aboard.

welcome mate
