Airbag warning light on.

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago, the passenger front door was dented into the next door neighbor rubbish skip.  The repair was carried out at a local garage and since then, the airbag warning light is on.

When I start the engine, it briefly goes out and after few seconds comes on and stays on.

Any idea what might be?

You need to check with Diagnostic System/VCDS.

Inside the door there's a "crash sensor", maybe it's unplugged or damaged.

Thanks mate

Checked the door wires, they appear to be properly plugged.

Can you tell me where are the sensors located and how to get to them?

Even if you locate the fault then you'll need to have the fault cleared with VCDS since the airbag controller is one that does not clear faults once they are fixed all by itself.

Just double check the position of the switch in the glovebox - the garage might have switched it off just in case it deployed by accident

That was the 1st thing I checked.

So, I have to go to an authorized garage after all. I thought I can avoid this.

Any idea how much they can charge?
