That's because English isn't his first language. At least he made an effort though.

In answer to your question, no it cannot.

Only on later BAP units.

LOL

Personally I'm not a fan of the illuminated cluster as the sharan has it.

quick thought, how illuminated would it be during daylight hours?

TBH his English is a damn site better than some in the Fab1 forums, and English IS their first language ;)

The speedo/dash pod is on full brightness. I until you enter a tunnel/shade, then it dims to nothing.

The brightness control only works when the lights are on

Don't do it you forget your lights arn't on, my last couple of volvo's had it on all time even with lights off

Was my biggest gripe about the mk4 mondeo.

It was hard coded into the dash pod so no way to change.

I understood, just thought it was amusing...

...and I thought about that but ruled it out as he says he lives in Leeds.

Still funny. :giggle:

Thats ok dont mind making people laugh. I couldnt find the right word that time. Anyway, its more amusing when english people dont know how to spell some words and ask me to do it.

And there was a question about illuminating instrument cluster without switching headlights on but not about my language skills.

Thanks to people who gave me an answer!

Poor idea IMO... if you can't see the speedometer it means light is poor and you should have your lights on.

There may be additional factors behind the question...

For exsmple, I wear sunglasses for driving quite a lot and find that I can't see the displays in the centre of the (non-Maxidot) cluster with them on in bright sunlight.

I can see the needles OK. And don't need the exterior lights on in that circumstance.

Having the central part illuminated in bright daylight would help me there.

I had a toyota avensis in the past which had its cluster illuminated and it was great, then volvo but it had permanently lights on. So i think it would be quite useful especially with this old style dial.

 Yup! :)

or you need glasses

Have to admit, the dash visibility in normal daylight is a bit inadequate. I always tend to drive with sidelights on just so I can see the dials. Not that it causes any problems.
