has anyone got al alternative link as i am just about to top up power steering fluid so thought i might as well tackle this at the same time.

and while i am at it...anyone know the total amount of fluid used for the power steering, using a leak stopper, so need to calc how much to use, cheers...

Well that went well...now first even harder to select....back at it next week...

Any tips for locking the gearbox in home, is the locking action suppose to go all the way to 12 o clock as mines around 9/10/11 ish.

Also spring in gear cable refuses to hold compressed, is this essential to have or can I lock the gearstick and gearbox box then manually compress and release to set the adjustment?

did you take the battery and box out to lock the box up ? i found it pretty much impossible to lock the box properly without removing the battery and box

Yeh, don't know if you saw my other thread, was topping up power steering fluid, so had it all out to get at that

ah right yes .. sorry ..... another tip i found out the hard way when locking the gear stick (in the cab) in place use an allen key not a drill bit as when it inevitably falls through the hole its a complete **** to get back out  

Haha...oh how I wish someone had said that before now....guess what what happened when I used a drill bit....

With everyone saying drill bit I never thought it might go all the way down...

Any tip to get it out as its still in there...

i removed the centre console bit around the handbrake .... the really long bit thats a complete pain then some really really long forceps we used for fishing lol .

 

if you have an extendable magnet it may be doable

Ahh I pulled the console out but had nothing to get at them with, my great plan was blutack but I think it got pushed too far back.

Did you fully remove the console or leave it on due to the gear lever?

nope i uncoupled the cig lighter and turned the gaiter so it was vertical and diagonal in the hole and removed the whole thing out of the car

Ahh right, ill Gove that a shot then...definatley a next weekend job though....if u can live with he New aweful gear change....

Any other tips you can think of?
