How much oil should be needed to top it up from min on the dipstick to max?

1 litre.

Handbook say top up in 500 ml amounts. Avoid overfilling and damage to cat..

I litre - but beware!  That engine is VERY sensitive to gradient so be sure you check it on dead level ground.

Thanks all.  Dipstick on that engine is close to useless too...
