Car just cut out...then ran fine.

Featured Replies

Any advice / possible diagnosis would be welcome.

Just drove home from work. 5 minutes into the trip my car cut out. So restarted it fine and there were 3 ping / beep sounds when I did. I noticed the power steering light came on when I restarted it along with the pings but the light went out and the other 17 miles of the journey home were without incident.

It looks like when you turn the ignition on the steering light comes on goes off anyway but it seemed to coincide with the pings so I'm not sure if its related ...

Car is a 56 plate vrs diesel on 85k.

Mines done the same twice since october,no idea why as it runs fine the rest of the time and it hasn't flagged up any trouble codes in vcds.

Just been out to start it and no problem with the steering light . It goes straight out and there are no pings.

However, just had a look underneath the car and I appear to have a leak.... Seems like water tbh. Just a steady drip off the tray.

Here are a few pics if anybody can tell me anything.... Not great pics I know. Need to get it up in the air really.

So these are taken from under the drivers seat . I'm guessing its not collected water since we've had no rain,,,,

Could this be washer fluid? Filled the bottle up while car is sat and the level seems to be slowly dropping .. Would the pipe to the rear washer be in this area or is that internal ?

Now think this water was just from the air con being on since it looks to have dried up.

So the cutting out remains a mystery
