Octy VRS - headunit no fit !!!!

Featured Replies

ok have taken out old HU, it was a clarion type one, cannot get my new one to fit, its the wires,

all fits in the cage , got all the power sorted but cannot get it to fit,

basically have the cage on top half and underneath a suede type open glove box.

the clarion unit does not have all the associated wires etc and fits in fine, but the other HU as a load of additonal wires , i just cannot get it to fit in,

can a new HU be to long to fit ???

advice please

thanks

jase

It wont be to long, its the loom bunching up at the back.

Best bet is to remove the glovebox (pretty easy to do) so you can feed the wires back as you push the headunit in.

how do you remove glovebox

as far as i can see top bottom bit of cage clips on to it, but it is very solid if you know what i mean

thanks

pm if you want

No I mean the actual glove box to the left. Then you can reach around the back of the headunit.

T20 torx screw top and bottom, carefull with the light though, needs to be unplugged.

As lummux says, watch the light. If you pull to hard it comes apart then you spend another 1/2 hour working out how to put the light back together again.

I had the same trouble with my blaupunkt hu.

It'll take more than 1/2 hour if you don't have thin fingers...I had the same issue with my sony HU with 3 sets of RCA's were getting in the way. Again small hands are a bonus...

you know what they say about men with small hands ;)

Small gloves?

:D

think thats the one :P
