Hi All,

 

I realized a strange noise after stop the engine.

I heard a dull thump after it a click clack click clack same as the metronome.
What is the cause of this noise?
Is it normal or not?
This noise will be a presage of other failures?

Is It advisable to show in the repair shop or not?

 

Here is the recorded noise. The noise begins at 8th seconds.

Definitely does not sound normal. Sounds like the fuel isn't being shut off properly when ignition is turned off. I don't know the fuel system well enough on the Superb - don't know if the fuel cut off is electric or vacuum powered. Could be a fuse, or vacuum leak maybe?

EGR valve.

If its the EGR valve, does the Seat EGR mod apply on this engine (ie the diaphragm with the smaller EGR hole)? Maybe OP would like to do that and let the engine breath a bit better?

Just had a listen and it's not typically an EGR sound tbh, it sounds more like something being stopped that didn't want to stop but had to, without being able to stick the nut under the hood for the area it's comming from I dunno, but I would focus around the drivebelts and gearbox tbh.

The first noise you hear (the dull thud) is normal its the strangle valve in the throttle housing operating, Basicaly when you switch the engine off the strangle valve shuts to stop the engine from over running and when the engine has stopped it reopens and that is what you are hearing, The other noises you can hear are also normal.

I thought, maybe the cause of this noise is the DMF.

When the flyweight stopped heard the "dull thud" after it, the another part of the DMF is bouncing on springs.(by springs)

Each bounce is a click clack.
Is this possible?

I have no other idea.

It´s not the flywheel. My Greenline has a similar sound - perfectly normal.

Yeah that is the squeal and then a plunger like sound, all totally normal.

Ive told you what it is, Ive been working on a few today at work and have taken note when they are switched off and they all do it, My 13plate elegance superb 2.0 cr 4x4 does it.

Haven't heard this myself (usually too busy getting the kids out of the car when we stop) but good to know it's normal for future reference.
