I go to Kwik Fit, because lease plan says I have to for tyres! But over the years I can say I have had good service, they do tend to employ the odd dead head, but when a company pays peanuts they tend to employ monkey's.

 

 This said though I have got to know the lads in our local branch and this has come in very handy when I have needed a favour.

 

 So I will watch the report on the BBC (biased broadcasting company) to see what they have to say.

The exhaust on my Polo started knocking, so I went to them as they check for free (and it's easier than me getting the trolley jack out!). They claimed it needed a whole new system, which they didn't even stock.

 

I left it knocking as it wasn't long until the MOT, so I thought I'd see what they said. Turned out the hanger had rusted away, and after 30 minutes of (billed) welding it was silent again.

 

I'm sure they're not all bad, but it tainted my opinion of them a bit.

I NEVER go to these companies anyway. If I need tyres fitting, I'll go to the indie. I'd rather give them my trade than a national company. If its any other work, I do it myself

Have avoided Kwik Fit fit for years.

Go in there for a tyre and they tell you all four need replacing, even if the others are on 3 and 4 mm.

None of this should come as a suprise to anyone!

Its OK though, those naive enough to use Kwik Fit still have Halfords Auto Centre's to rip them off.

The BBC being sloppy yet again.  Basing the extra fuel cost on manufacturers figures which they know to be inaccurate, just to sensationalise their figures. Their vehicle expert marking wheel bolts to see if the wheels are removed for a brake inspection, manufacturers these days don't specify that the wheels are removed to inspect the brakes, a brake inspection should be easy with the wheels on especially on Golfs with alloy wheels.

I'm doing quite well in that regard. Anybody trying to tell you what you're going to get from a car though is pretty pointless, be it the manufacturers figures or those from WhatCar - we don't all drive on the same roads and hills or with the same weighted feet.
