Featured Replies

not a happy chappy

one of my 4 120Gb HDD has decided to pack in, at least i think it has, the PC cant find it even tho it is plugged in and i am just getting clickin noises from it when I try to access it

gutted there was a lot of music on there not to mention my rather extensive porn collection lol :P JK

Ouch :(

Leave it to cool off, then try again. It may recover long enough to copy a few files off 'each attempt'.

Wouldnt happen to know brand/type ?

Oh dear, I live in fear of the day one of mine dies so I have a backup on DVD of my 100GB of mp3 files, digital photos etc.

As suggested, leaving the drive off overnight sometimes gets it going again briefly. We do that when a HD goes at work, and we can usually get a ghost image of the drive ready for then the replacement is installed.

Bet it's a Fu-****-Su

Or you can get a bootable linux live CD as i find that sh4gg3d hard disk tend to read under linux but not windows (and sometimes even when the bios refuses to acknowledge its there - very odd but handy)
