Best Dealer in North East for Service

Recommended Posts

Hi wondering if anyone could recommend a dealer in North East fr a service. Have read dealer reviews - Pulman Durham seems the best. Has anyone had any experiences of them. I've had a letter from Benfield newcastle but don't really fancy them or silbury!

thanks all

What kind of Service, a Oil Service or Inspection Service, or more involved work?

I would just use the cheapest/nearest.

Find out exactly what is getting done, & how much they are charging.

Any Skoda Dealership should do the job properly for all there is that gets done.

Maybe do not go by the 'Skoda Service National Pricing',

because that often costs more than getting a price from a Dealership for a Service.

(maybe not worth paying them to wash and vacum your car if you can do that yourself for free)

£39 MOT offer is pretty good tho.

Cheers George

thing is its part of a fixed term service contract - part of a deal I got with my monte. Heard some bad reviews about some places. What should I expect to be done in the first service - mad Call thing is I've only done 3000 miles in the year !!

That is why i am saying to 'Ask what is going to get done.?'

You will be getting a New Oil Filter, and new oil, and maybe a sump plug if they change the oil in the traditional way.

Washer fluid topped up, and that might be it.

Hopefully there is a look around things on the car, maybe comment on your wiper blades, & tyre tread Depth

& a visual inspection of the body work for the .Paint/corrosion warranty. & the Service book filled in.

The Service Indicator reset.

(it might take all of 25 minutes but they want the customer to think it takes longer.)

Anything more done might be to pass the time.

Check your tyre pressures, Lube hinges etc, but that really is not part of the deal with many on an

'Oil Service.'  No Road Test or the likes,.

Maybe try to get your wheels off & checked that they come off easily.

Unless you are doing it, then the Servicing Workshops might never do it until 3 or 4 years if they even do.

If you look in the 'Minor Service' £129 in the Skoda National Pricing,

you will see, 'Pollen Filter', Diagnostic Test, Road Test, but the ** beside them,

Wash And Vacum etc.

'Maybe with your 'Service Plan' they might do some or all now, but the Pollen Filter is not due to be done.'

Hi whitey I have used both Pulman in Durham and Silbury in Cramlington both gave good customer service when I have used them and, although probably doesnt matter to you good prices.

Silbury did a athird year service on my car two weeks ago and cant really fault them.

In the end you got to take into account convenience as I work 5 minutes from Silbury and Pulman are 40 minute drive away, seemed a no brainer when cost and customer sevice were practically the same.

If anyone is interested 3rd year service + brake fluid change and MOT was £212

Third year sevice is a minor service but they still claimed to have taken mine for a road test, although wasnt far as the odometer was only showing an extra mile or so

In Dundee @ Skoda Specialist Cars, a 3year/30,000 mile service & MOT on a vRS is. £188.76

No road test gets done even though there is a Brake Fluid Change.

Maybe a Good Technician would do one even though not part of the job..

(reason for saying no roadtest was done is when asked who had Kerbed the Wheel,

they checked and said it was not taken for a Roadtest.

So means they must have kerbed it between the Customer Parking and the workshop then.)

Example.

Filter £7.78

Sump plug £1.70

Windscreen Wash £3.54

Oil 3.6 litres £25.92

Labour of service, 1.59% Discount againt standard labour rate, £49.60

+VAT

Mot £39

Brake Fluid Change £36.26 + VAT.

total = £188.76

(So maybe with Brake Fluid change @ £45 & MOT @ £54, it could be £212 or so.)

Hi Whitey

Got my Monte from Benfield Skoda, couldn't fault them, not had any servicing done yet as only had the car 6-7 weeks but had work done before at other Benfiled workshops and not had any problems.

Don't think you have much to worry about if it'd just a routine service, they all should be done to a workshop maintainance schedule anyway.
