Air con in 2002 octavia tdi stopped working

Featured Replies

Hey all- just tried the air con in my octavia since the first time for this summer, and I'm getting no cool air coming through. Nothing more than the 'no air con' cold mode, anyway.

Last time I used it (I expect 9 months ago) it was fine, but not now.

I'm hoping its a fuse- and my two thoughts on this are that it went so quickly- suddenly from very cold air to no air (no degredation in quality) and also, when I start the engine with the air con on, I get a few seconds of cool air coming through, even when the car has been parked in the sun- before it warms up again.

Any thoughts?

When was it last regassed? Mine "fell off a cliff" too, and that was the issue.

Not in my ownership... Since June 2010! If this sounds like the case- how much did yours cost?

Air con service and re-gas is usually about £50.

Mine suddenly stopped working last year and it was a broken wire coming from the compressor and running along the front of the engine. Didn't get spotted until after the system had been emptied and re-filled.

After 3 years minimum it needs a regas anyway. Since there's a possibility of something else as well, I'd go to KwikFit, since if i's not just a regas you'll probably can get the regas done for free.
