Feels like boost cut!

Hi guys iv just purchased my second octavia vrs, it's running good power with all the internals and custom remap by shark performance, the car runs very well but about 2 times out of ten when I put my foot flat to the floor on boost the car cuts boost and backfires quite loud, it somrtimes does it on 1bar of boost and sometimes on full which is 1.6bar, any ideas of what this might be would be brilliant, thanks

Have you had your coilpacks checked and changed

No mate could it be them? I know on my last octavia I replaced quite a few? Iv had the car 3days and it's only just started doing it so dosnt seem like an ongoing fault.

Interesting, sounds similar to an issue I had. Have you checked all of the vac and boost pipes for leaks?

No mate I havnt, i havnt started looking at anything yet thought I would get a few ideas off of here so I was kind of looking in the right direction, it's hard to explain only think iv noticed is just to the right of the rocker cover there is a little black pipe in the shape of a Y right at the top which is connected to the crank breather that is sucked in not sure if that would make a difference

So it begins lol

Replace the breather pipes and check vac lines

Other possible cause is fuel pump starting to fail

Yes that pipe has collapsed. If thats knackered its a good bet the ones under the inlet manifold are in a similar condition.

Thanks for the input guys, yea it has started lol but to be fair if I bought a car that never went wrong how boring is that! It doesn't bother me as long as I can find out what it is so ill check all my lines and boost pipes over the weekend and try and get a replacement pipe and see if that makes any difference, us their a way you can get the fuel pump checked? Cheers

I would order yourself some 3 mm vac hose and remove all the unwanted crap from the bay not only make it run better but sorts the bay out

You recon that would help too then? Ok I will get on that then reading over what you have done to your vrs you know what your talking about its a bit strange the amount if money this car has had spent but no one uprated eny engine hoses apart from turbo and induction seeing as I know myself that they are a weak point let alone running over 300hp

Yes agree same as brakes not being done etc etc

But atleast it gives you some bits todo and make your own mark on it :-)

Exactly mate brakes have been uprated just keep my fingers crossed nothing major goes wrong but like you said I like doing stuff myself so makes you feel like it's more yours although I wouldn't have the knowledge to go into the detail that you do but I'd like too

Brakes look standard what uprated on them ?

Thank you mate well Steve said they were standard size but they look massive compared too my last vrs I had I may be wrong but they just look big too me

Oh my bad well just braided hoses and different disks and pads, nothing major, I stand corrected

Get some decent brakes on it :-)

You'll need better than LCR 4pot + 323 too ;)

Well I don't use it on the track it's only road use really and they do stop well.

Changing the topic the car has 5w-40 ether synthetic oil and iv ran out iv been told because I'm not using it on the track and it's road use I could use 5w-30 instead of race oil? I don't really know the best to use it would be nice a bit cheaper but also do not want to damage the engine so don't mind paying If I have to. If anyone needs it this is the spec list:

Genuine 5w 30 will be fine from main dealer and only £25
