Guys, I will be replacing the suspension on the Golf in a couple of weeks, whilst stripped down I aught to replace the front strut top mounts, question is, with what?

 

 OEM

 KYB from eurocarparts 

 Polybush and so on.

 

 Also, do you know if the top mount is supplied complete with a bearing?

Anyone had any experience with KYB from eurocarparts?

I have done a bit of research today, well asked a few people I know in the trade anyway, all have said the Lemforder (ZF) is the way to go.

 I asked in ECP about why they have dropped Lemforder and the answer was "no idea" but KYB will be replacing, parts will not be available for two to three weeks.

 

 Long and short of it, I have found genuine Lemforder top mount kit on fleabay, two top mounts, two bearings all for £25 delivered.  I did look at powerflex but silly money for a block of rubber and then bearings on top!

Or cupra R ones if they fit maybe?

Cupra R and R32 are the same as the standard 4 motion Golf, in fact quite a lot of 4 motion golf is as an R32 or S3 or TT 3.2 quattro, sneaky Germans, same car different badge and styling  :wonder:   I bet a TT owner wouldn't have a Golf though lol.

 

 I have ordered stock to see what they are like, as things progress I might get a full polybush or power flex set of bushes and replace everything.

 

I have spent enough for now, so need to get some things fitted, coilovers, brakes sorted with new discs and ferodo DS2500 pads, Eibach ARBS and the few sensor issues, MOT will be done after that and then decide on when to fit the turbo.... might need the brakes sorting again after that goes on, but 312mm as standard on the front so could just get uprated R32 callipers. 

 

 I think this will be never ending! Also after some Subaru standard 18" wheels, for some reason these sell for a lot less than other wheels, they are light and have the correct PCD and offset for the Golf, who cares what they look like, nobody sees them when you are driving.

They are very well made IMHO, ESP the bearings which seem built properly.

Mine were not from ECP though , just to be clear.

Didn't realise ECP had stopped using Lemforder parts!
