Any off the shelf exhausts?

Featured Replies

Been looking at exhausts, would love the Fabia to sound a little more beefy!

Its a 1.9 TDI PD100 engine and also an estate.

My question is if anybody knows of any performance exhausts that are already made to fit the Fabia estate?

Lots for the VRS but can't find any for the estate.

Will it have to be custom made?

Or for better sound (not bothered about performance increase) should I just stick a universal back box on the car?

Once again, thanks chaps.

Like it here, so signed up for freedom :)

Mite be easier to just remove the silencer, which can be done for about £60

It will make it sound more "beefy", especially when you put your foot down

Just after a deeper sound and a bit more of a growl.

This sounds interesting, and fairly straight forward I'd imagine.

No need to change the rear silencer?

The piper vRS exhaust has a seperate tailpipe iirc that could be extended (I did much the same to my MK1 Fabia vRS estate

I'm not 100% on the Fabia exhaust system so somebody else needs to confirm this, but the silencer is usually cut out and a straight piece of pipe is put in between

The silencer that is removed is usually somewhere around the middle of the exhaust center pipe on normal petrol cars but not sure whether it's the same as that with diesels

If not, then it will be the rear silencer which is removed

So, if no middle silencer, just remove the rear silencer/backbox and replace with a straight pipe and tip?

Thanks for the help guys.

So is the layout of the exhaust exactly the same as the VRS? all the routing etc and the only difference being that it needs to be slightly longer?

A simple case of fitting an extender before putting on the finall piece (tail pipe)?

Yep, exhaust is identical except the tailpipe.

Take it to your local exhaust place and get them to chop the back box out and replace it with a straight pipe, love the sound of mine :)

That is extremely useful information, thank you. Cant quite work out the picture. It is of a cut out rear silencer replaced with straight pipe?

cost me £80 with a twin 2.5" round tip mate, best £80 I've spent of my vRS ! No one believes its a diesel when I'm flat out on a track lol ! ... I haven't got a video of it but put " fabia mufflerectomy' in YouTube and there is plenty of videos on there :) here's a good one..

The silencer is still there. I cut the tail pipe off it and welded in a straight bit of pipe then welded the tailpipe on that.

Some of these sound damn good! and for such little cost. Because I'm not really after a performance gain, this is 100% what I'm going to do.

So they just welded a twin tip to a single straight pipe that replaced the rear silencer/back box?

Oooo, excited to get this done!

Really dont want the LOUD owl noise every time I let off the throttle though, does yours do this mate?

yeh I chose the tip I wanted on mate you could probably keep the standard tip if you wanted, you only get the owl noise when you decat it that's why I didn't so mine because I hate it lol

If I kept my tip and they used mine, I imagine it would cost less? That is of course, assuming that you purchased the tip too and was included in your £80.00!

That CAT is staying right where it is then - permanently.

Iv de-CATed mine + got rid of the centre silencer + it doesnt do the owl noise ;).. my rear siliencer is still on (for now :D)

Also u dont need to worry about tips. Thats just what the VRS boys have to do... your exhaust is tucked away so u just chop the rear silencer off + get a bit of straight pipe welded in its place.. :)

Even better, this is happening ASAP! Excited to hear the difference

You are right, the majority of after-market exhausts are for the vRS. If you do fit one then you will either have to fit a vRS bumper or cut a hole in it.  The other option is to get one custom made with a stealthy downward pointing tip.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but will the centre silencer delete be too loud with a decat? Its on a pd100

There is no centre silencer I believe. I cut out the cat on mine before I got my custom stainless for my estate and it wasn't loud. Just the right amount of turbo whistle. Was nice.

Removal of the rear silencer will make the car quite loud. :)

When mine was on the ramp getting decatted, I could've swore there was a small silencer located in the centre just before the backbox. Could be wrong though :S

I'm sure someone will elaborate, cheers anyway mate :)

The fabia only has a cat and rear silencer.
