Climate control hot on one side, cool on other

Featured Replies

The weather in the UK is unusually hot and the climate control on my 57 plate vrs is not playing properly.

Only the drivers side dashboard and footwell vents are getting vaguely cold. According VCDS is telling me that ambient temp is 30+ the temperature coming out of the evaporator is 19, the right dash vent is 20, the right footwell is 26, the left footwell is 34 and left dash is 36 degrees C. I also checked this with a infra red thermometer, and the dash board centre vent and rear seat vent are at about 33.

The actual air temp at 9 in the evening is about 25.

Any ideas what is wrong ? - this was measured with the system set to auto, but adjusting temperatures, blower settings and the like could not get cool air out of the left vents. Additionally the right vent wasn't as cold as expected (we have a 55 plate micra that will freeze you half to death, even in this weather). The system has recently been recharged and VCDS states around 8bar coolant pressure with the system running (fan 29% and compressor current .765amps) .

I had not dissimilar issues with one side blowing warm all the time. In the end the dealer replaced some sensors in the dash - all done under warranty.

Sarge.

I had a similar problem with my vrs. It was in the garage for 9 days to start with having various sensors and other bits and bobs replaced but the actual control panel in the dashboard needed replacing as well but it was in back order so i got my car back and booked it in once they knew when the part was coming. It was then back in for another 6 days getting that replaced and having a few bits repaired/replaced that they had managed to damage on the previous visit.

To get at the temperature sensors the whole dashboard had to come out and a whole array of other faults were found when they refitted it like the steering control module and the heater control panel (both of which worked before they took then out) were found so i'd hate to think how much it cost SUK to fix under warrenty. I'm not trying to scare you, just giving you my fault that i had to give you a bit more info.
